THE FIRST LESSON TO A LEADER

The supervisor must remember that he is just one man. The men under him may be 70 or 100. But no matter how the supervisor works, he cannot do much more than one man’s work. So, the leader’s primary function is to ensure that the work of all the men under him is properly organised. When a supervisor is going to his office or workshop in the morning, He should not think too much of what he he is going to do for that day, but it is far more important for him to think of how the work for the day is going to be allotted to his men. This is not at all easy. A leader must learn to delegate his work. The more a leader delegates, the better he will be able to lead his men. Delegation of work also ensures that in case of illness, resignation or death, the work of the department still goes on. If the work is not properly delegated, the supervisor becomes indispensable in a particular job. This means that when there is a vacancy higher up, the supervisor can be spared to fill that vacancy as he has properly trained his men to do their work. Such efficiency is expected in every leader.

WHAT IS ‘REALITIES OF MANAGEMENT’?

There are many management courses being taught to the aspiring managers of the present world. How much ever deep the faculty teaches the subject to the people, they gain only a little through definition, formulae, lectures and other theoretical stuff. There are many cases where, a successful company is run by an efficient leader, who has no degree in management. A candidate with distinction in management degree might fail to prove himself as an efficient manager. Why all this happens? It is clearly because of the lack in the practical knowledge. Most of the successful managers tell it in a single, strong voice that they had learnt a lot by studying the experiences of the other successful managers, than what they learnt in the courses that were taught to them. This is what the topic REALITIES OF MANAGEMENT is all about. It provides you the basic lessons and principles you need to know to be an eminent manager. All the lessons that it conveys to you are obtained by analysing the experience of the successful managers. Even the course of the managers who turned out to be inefficient is studied, to let people know where they went wrong. Thus, REALITIES IN MANAGEMENT brings forth to you the principles you need to know, the problems you might face and the best ways to approach a problem, from the practical point of management. It has now become one of the compulsory courses in many leading management schools.
