Management styles have to be custom designed to fit the particular characteristics of each industry. For example, the particular approach will work best in those industries that are in the vanguard of change. In case of a plastics firm, a food company and a container company, it was found that the plastics firm provided for wide dispersal of responsibility for major decisions, the food company for moderate decentralization of authority, and the container company operated with fairly centralized control. Not only does each organization have its own appropriate management style, but so do many individual operations within the same organization.
