Off-the-cut promises

One of the biggest causes of problems and difficulties in an organization occurs when, over a luncheon table, a company president makes a promise of delivery to a favorite customer. Such a promise upsets all carefully planned schedules. Similarly, at a cocktail party, the president may promise a job to a friend or to a relation of a favorite customer without having regard to the feelings of the existing staff in the organization that might have been there for many years.
